About us

Fasken Martineau is a leading international business law and litigation firm. Tracing our roots back to the mid-1800s, our firm was founded through the merger of three regional Canadian icons in 2000. Today we have nine offices with more than 770 lawyers across Canada and in the UK, France and South Africa. Its merger with Johannesburg-based law firm Bell Dewar in February 2013 has created one of the largest law firms operating in Africa, resulting in Fasken Martineau having the largest international footprint of any Canadian-based law firm.

Currently Fasken Martineau Johannesburg has 76 lawyers on staff. The new Johannesburg team will add to the firm’s existing capabilities in Africa, especially in the areas of mining, infrastructure, energy, project finance, capital markets and M&A throughout Africa. The merged firm will provide a full offering of legal services to clients worldwide.

We operate in English and French in civil law and common law jurisdictions worldwide.
